Rainbow Glow Slime!!!

Yesterday, we made Flubber to play with. Today, we decided to turn it into Glow Slime and use it with our blacklight. We took our Flubber, split it up into 4 portions and used neon paint to color each portion. You could also use glow-in-the-dark paint to make your slime glow in the dark if you do not have a black light. My kids had so much fun with this, especially my 12 year old!

If you are starting from scratch, you will need:
1 1/3 cups of very warm water
3 teaspoons of Borax
2 cups of white school glue, like Elmer's (4- 4oz bottles)
1 1/2 cups of very warm water
Neon or Glow-in-the-dark acrylic paint

Mix 1 1/3 cup of very warm water and the Borax in a bowl until the Borax completely dissolves. In another bowl, a large one, combine glue and 1 1/2 cups of very warm water and mix well. Add the bowl with the Borax into the bowl with the glue. Mix until everything is combined and let it sit for few minutes. Separate the slime into portions and color each portion with the paint. You can store the slime in a Ziploc bag or container to use it again.
We started out with 4 colors, but my kids could not wait to turn it into Rainbow slime!

Pretty cool!

My oldest got a bit carried away and felt the need to pretend that he was Slimer.
LOL

Glowing Rainbow Rice

Lately, we are all about anything that glows! We LOVE our blacklight and put it to good use! We also enjoy Glow-in-the-dark play. We have made tons of colored rice for play, but today we made Glow Rice! The colors are very vibrant and it takes the rice sensory play to a whole new level! Glow Rice is simple to make and you can find almost everything you need in the dollar store. You have two options with this: If you use glow-in-the-dark paint, your rice will glow in the dark. Or, you can use neon/fluorescent paint and your rice will GLOW under a blacklight.  The paints can be found in Walmart and craft stores. We picked our blacklight up at Walmart for under $11.00.

You will need:
Rice
zip-lock bags
Neon/Fluorescent or glow in the dark paint
 Rubbing alcohol

Place the desired amount of rice for each color in a Ziploc bag.  Add about a tablespoon of the glowing paint of your choice and about one tablespoon of rubbing alcohol. The rubbing alcohol helps coat the rice, watering down the paint so you need less and helps the rice dry faster.  Seal the bag and then shake, knead, and mix until the rice is evenly coated.  Then lay the rice out to dry on a cookie sheet. I periodically "mix" the rice up to help it dry completely.  When the rice is dry and it is dark, get ready for some GLOWING fun!!

We added some glow in the dark stars for play.
The colors are so vibrant and pretty under the black light.

My son insisted we add the neon blue rice we made the other day to the rest of the rainbow glow rice. It looks awesome, huh?

Bath Time is Fun When it Glows Blue!

Tonight, we had our second glow bath, this one was blue. Pretty cool, huh? The kids definitely thought so!

The blue glow bath is quite a bit easier than the yellow one, at least I think so.
All I did is fill the tub with water like I normally would and added 5- 2 liter bottles of Tonic Water.
Turn the lights off and the Black Light(I picked mine up at Wal-Mart for under $11) on and you have yourself a Blue Glow Bath!

Make some glowing Bath Paint to go along with it.
I used a little bit of neon acrylic paint instead of food coloring, but neon food coloring would work too.

By the time the kids were finished with the bath paint, not only was the entire bathtub glowing, but so were they!
The beauty of it all is that it all washes off and goes down the drain!

So Much Fun with Our Glow Bath!

This weekend I went all out and planned a Glow Bath for my boys!

I used about 8 non-toxic yellow highlighters to color the water (I cracked the plastic open and put the ink filled cotton into the running water) and a black light (I picked one up at Wal-Mart for under $11.00). I made some bath paints using shaving cream and a touch of neon acrylic paint to color them.  I also picked up some glow in the dark animals and dinosaurs from the dollar store for some extra glowing fun.  I set up some other random items that glow under the black light like neon orange pipe cleaners and neon pony beads.

With the lights on it looks like the green slime from Double Dare!

I found awesome neon planet wall stickers at the Dollar Tree-- for $1, I had to get them!

I bought a few bottles of Tonic-- it naturally glows blue under a black light.

I turned the lights off and turned the black light on-- Instant GLOWING fun!! The kids had an absolute blast and look forward to doing it again!
