Mr. Turkey Color Recognition Felt Activity

This fun felt activity focuses on color recognition, it is a lot of fun to make and do with your preschooler. My son enjoys this one even though he is now a pro with colors. It fits the theme of Thanksgiving, but great for year around fun too! 

 

 Mr. Turkey is so sad, he has lost his beautiful colorful feathers. Have your little one help him find all of his feathers so that he can be happy once again!

 

 

Mr. Turkey was so sad.

He lost the feathers he once had.

Now he wants us to help him find all of the feathers of his kind.

We will look both high and low, we will fid them, don't you know.

Here's a red one and a blue.

Look, we've found a green one too.

Here's an orange one and a yellow, soon he'll be a feathered fellow.

Now we've found the purple one, black and white--we're almost done!

If we just look up and down, I know we'll find the feather brown.

Now, Mr. Turkey is so glad!

We found the feathers he once had!

Stone Soup Felt Story

I made this felt story to go along with the book Stone Soup. Stone Soup is an old story that shows the importance of cooperation. The story is about a traveler that goes to a village looking for food and none of the villagers are willing to share their food because the each only have one type of vegetable or food. Using his "magic" stone, he shows them how to work together and make a gigantic pot of soup that will feed the entire village.  I used templates from DTLK that can be found here.

Under the Sea Felt Fish Tank

This was our summer project last year, we just set it up again and are planning to continue to add to  it this summer. We started out with a few felt fish that we made and added a new fish, plant, or sea animal each week. It was a family project, the kids picked out a fish, my husband or I made the fish out of felt and then we learned a little bit about the fish before we added it to out felt tank. So far, we have a shark, angel fish, parrot fish, octopus, clown fish, lobster, sting ray, blue crab, sea turtle, sea horse, whale, and some others. This was a fun and educational project, my kids are looking forward to adding to it again, as am I. This also goes well with our Under the Water tote that I am putting together for July.

The Itsy Bitsy Spider Felt Story

 

 

The itsy bitsy spider
Climbed up the waterspout
Down came the rain
And washed the spider out
Out came the sun
And dried up all the rain

Lorax Felt Board

 

This little felt Lorax is our newest addition to our felt board! I was overwhelmed at the thought of making it, but it actually was pretty easy to make! I used Google images as a template and got to work. My kids love it! I love the Lorax too, he's so darn cute! Eventually, I think I will make some buildings to go along with it. Who knows, I may even get brave and try one of those little bears!

Where The Wild Things Are Felt Board

 

I made this little monster to add to our Where the Wild Things Literacy Basket that I am working on for next month. He was very simple to make. I found a coloring page on Google and I used that as my pattern. You could glue the pieces on to use it as a decoration or prop, or leave the pieces separate and let your kids "put him together." This will be a great addition to our literacy basket and in the future it will be used on our felt board and as a busy bag.

Five Little Cookies in the Bakery Shop

I made a felt story to use on our felt board to go along with upcoming baking activities that I have planned. I found two rhymes/songs that I can use with them, Five Little Cookies in the Bakery Shop and Five Little Cookies. I cut out 5 circles and decorated them with icing (glitter glue), which I color coded to go with the bottom song.
