Make your Own Seasoning Salt

I have recently gotten into making my own seasonings. I have made my own Taco Seasoning and Ranch Seasoning. I decided to try to make a seasoning salt that I could put on just about anything. This seasoning is so versatile, it is awesome on meat and chicken and delicious and vegetables and potatoes! I even added to my Homemade Mac and Cheese in a Mug that we made a couple of weeks ago. I love it and it is so easy to make!

Seasoning Salt

Yield: Makes 3 cups

Ingredients:

1/2 cup each...
• coarse salt (I use Kosher salt)
• ground black pepper
• onion powder
• garlic powder

1/4 cup each...
• paprika
• dried parsley
• ground cumin

1/8 cup each...
• crushed red pepper flakes
• chili powder

1 Tablespoon cayenne powder (You can add more if you like more heat)

Directions:

Mix all spices in a medium bowl until well combined.
Pour into an airtight jar and store in a cool, dry, dark place.

Stored properly, this spice will keep for three months. This seasoning salt can be used on just about anything. It is delicious on steak, ground beef, chicken, pork, fish, potatoes, sautéed or roasted   vegetables, and more!

To marinade chicken or beef , combine 2 tablespoons of seasoning salt and 6 tablespoons of olive oil in a bowl. Pour it over the meat and turn the meat to evenly coat all sides. Stick meat in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to marinade.

Homemade Ranch Dressing Seasoning Mix

My husband and my kids love Ranch salad dressing on just about everything-- chicken, salad, steak, pizza... The list goes on! I decided to try to make some Ranch Seasoning to try out. It took me no more than two minutes to make and it tastes great. I plan to make some homemade ranch dressing and experiment with it a bit. This mix can also be used to make a delicious fresh ranch dip for vegetables or potato chips by adding it to sour cream.

Homemade Ranch Dressing Seasoning Mix

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons dried parsley
  • 2 teaspoons dried dill
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

  • Add each of the dried spices to a bowl and gently stir.
  • Store in a small air tight container or a Ziploc bag in a dry dark place.
*This makes about 8 tablespoons of seasoning. You can cut the recipe in half or double it to make as little or as much as you like.
